What To Expect

Expect a welcome atmosphere.
The Drug & Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program is student-friendly. Visitors are always welcome, whether or not they have a problem to discuss. If the door is open, feel free to stop in and say hello. Sodas and snacks are usually around for visitors.

Expect confidentiality.
Those students seeking counseling and/or consultation are assured that their meetings will be kept in the strictest confidence, to protect their right to privacy.

Expect individualized help.
A first meeting will usually include a discussion of the history of the current problem, clarification of the type of help desired, and a cooperatively designed plan. Referrals, resources, and information may be offered to address the particular issues involved. Follow-up appointments are scheduled as needed.
