About The Program

Purpose
The purpose of Caltech's Drug & Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program is to provide preventive and educational services about substance abuse related issues to undergraduate and graduate students. The program seeks to increase campus awareness of alcohol and other drug abuse, reduce the risk of substance abuse by students, and increase wellness through stress management and other techniques.

Services
Confidential, individual counseling is available for those who have questions or concerns about alcohol and other drug use. Counseling is suitable for those who wish to discuss their own patterns of use, have questions about how to help a friend or family member, want to learn how to better manage stress, or need assistance with related life issues. Referrals to appropriate service providers may be offered. Drop-in hours are available  (see hours below), but appointments may be made at other times.

Consultation is also available to students who want help planning responsible parties and social events, factual information about alcohol and other drugs, and information about other resources on and off campus. Commonly provided resources include pamphlets, internet sites, books, and videos.

Educational programs and trainings are available that address a wide range of topics, such as safer sex, relaxation training, wellness, stress and time management, and substance abuse. These are tailored to fit the current needs of students. Programs can be designed for student organizations, houses, and other campus groups.
